Auction coin: 1993, 10 Rubles - Szpitsbergen, Russia/Norway     (Arktikugol)  Features: composition - copper-nickel clad steel,  diameter – 20.0 mm,  weight – 2.8 g. Mintage: 77600 pcs.

   Obverse the logo of Trust Arktikugol (Russian coal mining company) also contains what is depicted on the coin: Polar Bear on the Map of Spitsbergen (with 78° Longitude) on the globe meaning the exact location of the Islands.  Reverse: value within circle, legend around with date below. Mint: Moscow Mint, Russia.  Edge: reeded.

  Comment: the issue of coins of Svalbard in denominations of 10 rubles was carried out in 1993 at the Moscow Mint and were intended for local settlements in the shops and canteens of the Barentsburg and Pyramid mines Arktikugol trust. The exchange rate of these coins was the same as the exchange rate of the Norwegian krone.

  But they went for a short time, because. soon the governor of Svalbard banned the circulation of these coins due to the fact that they had the inscription „Russian Federation”, which was equivalent to the circulation of coins of another state on the Svalbard archipelago, and, therefore, was regarded by the Norwegian authorities as an encroachment on Norway's sovereignty over Svalbard. In addition, international law prohibits the depiction of the territories of some states on the banknotes of other states.

  Therefore, the 1993 coins were withdrawn from circulation and returned to the management of the Arktikugol trust.

    Another shipping method is also possible - I can send the auction set because of the relatively small value by standard  letter (EU : Kompaktbrief: 2,45 €,  Worldwide: International letter: 3,10 € - but the Kompaktbrief and International letter is a unregistered shipment (without tracking number) at the risk of the buyer.  In this case, please write to me that you accept unregistered shipment at your own risk (it is not covered by the Buyer Protection Program policies) - it is a necessary condition for shipping.

   Auction coin will be sent no later than on the next business day after payment has been received. Careful packing and sending on time are my priorities.

   I am happy to post items overseas and am willing to combine postage for multiple lots.  If you purchased several items, please wait for a combined invoice before you pay – You pay only for one shipment .

   On the day of shipping the auction coin, the buyer  will receive by e-mail a photos of the shipment (wrapped auction coin, addressed envelope), a photograph of the post office receipt and tracking number.
