This is a coin reflecting the irony of history – in December 1991, Ukraine - along with Russia and Belarus - signed the Belovezha Accords, which dissolved the USSR and established the Commonwealth of Independent States. Following Russian aggression, the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and the outbreak of the conflict in the Donbas, Ukraine began to withdraw completely from this structure.

In May 2018, the President of Ukraine signed a decree under which the country definitively ended its participation in the statutory bodies of the CIS and recalled its representatives.
