GERMAN STATES. PRUSSIA. 1679 Expulsion of the Swedes from Prussia Medal. Silver, 69.6mm, 98.71 grams. By Johann Höhn. Prooflike Uncirculated.
Obverse: Coming of the Superb day, radiant sun over Battle of Fehrbellin, eagle on nest in foreground menaced by Swedish lion.
Reverse: Prussian forces under Elector Friedrich III (King Friedrich I in 1701) symbolized by eagle diving on fleeing lion as Swedish troops in distance take flight, This Day sees Them Cast out in Flight, Prussia Liberated. Raised edge inscription proclaims Thou art Just O Lord, and Thy Judgments are Just. A gorgeous medal by a great Danzig-based medalist.
