Auction coin: 1993, Russia, a commemorative 5-Rubles coin: „Architectural Monuments of Ancient Merv (Republic of Turkmenistan)”.

   Features: BU (brillant uncirculated), composition: copper-nickel,  weight: 19.80 g,  diameter 35.0 mm, proof-like, Saint Petersburg Mint. Reverse: Architectural monuments of ancient Merv and inscriptions. Edge: plain with two inscriptions  divided by two asterisks.

   Mintage:  a mintage of 150,000 pcs was planned, but some time passed between the design and the issue and in the meantime the borders of Russia changed (Merv is now in Turkmenistan) and the coin was not issued in full mintage, The final issue size is unknown, it's probably 40,000 pcs - that is why it is a relatively rare coin.

   Founded many centuries ago, ancient Merv is located in Turkmenistan. The oldest fortified township was built 2,500 years ago. At present Merv is a group of picturesque archeological sites surrounded by fortress-walls and ruins of fortifications, and feudal palaces, mosques and mausoleums.

   I am dissolving parts of my private collection. Collector's exchange is possible.

   Auction coin will be sent no later than on the next business day after payment has been received. Careful packing and sending on time are my priorities.

   On the day of shipping the buyer  will receive by e-mail a photos of the shipment (wrapped auction coin, addressed envelope), a photo of the post office receipt and tracking number.
